The word our name comes from — and the whole idea behind this company: everything worth harvesting takes time.
A physician who got tired of the hype
Pomoni was founded by Dr. Peter Matos, D.O., MPH. The science on olive polyphenols was genuinely exciting — but the shelf didn't match it. Brands competed on who could print the biggest number, often using tests that inflate the figure rather than measure it honestly.
His reaction was simple: if we make a claim, we should be able to hand you the lab report behind it.
Dr. Matos is double board-certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine, a Fellow of ACOEM and ACPM, and adjunct faculty at the Uniformed Services University. He served as a US Army Major and Command Surgeon at Joint Munitions Command, and he reviews every health article on this site.
