Does olive oil lower cholesterol?
We do not make that claim. What the research — and the EU-authorized claim — describe is narrower and well-defined: olive polyphenols contribute to protecting blood lipids from oxidative stress at about 5 mg of hydroxytyrosol per day. If you are managing your cholesterol, work with your physician.
How much do I actually need?
The EU benchmark is 5 mg of hydroxytyrosol and its derivatives per day. There is no single official target beyond that, and consistency matters more than one large dose.
